Antique Welsh 8-day longcase clock with painted dial by Sebastian Fertwengler of Llanelli circa 1860.
Sebastian Furtwengler is the most well-known of the Llanelli makers, and was one of the most prolific. He was recorded in Directories as working in Water street and Vaughan street from 1861 and 1887.
The case is typical of furniture produced in the town, in a medium coloured oak with mahogany embellishments. The hood has a swan neck pediment and turned pillars, above a trunk with a square door flanked by canted corners over a base raised on bracket feet.
